With kiosk mode, user roles management feature of ID Card Workshop and UAC feature(User Account Control) of Microsoft's Windows, you can control what features in ID Card Workshop that guests can be only access, i.e. specific guests can only access records seeker to search for specific records but without the rights of editing, deleting and printing in a full-screen kiosk interface.
How to use kiosk mode of ID Card Workshop for unattended membership data entry and membership data query

1. Run ID Card Workshop under a standard user account of Microsoft's Windows. This approach greatly enhance security of your system.

2. Click on 'Setting' button, select 'kiosk mode'.

3. Check 'Enable kiosk mode'.

4. If you want to run the software when Windows starts, check the ''Run automatically when Windows starts' option and select the default page, the default page will be displayed right after Windows starts.

5. Configure 'Appearance' option. For greatly security, we recommend you to UN-CHECK the 'Show Close button' and make sure the ''Overlay system taskbar' option remains CHECKED.
After you unchecked the 'Show close button' option, users can only close the software with keyboard shortcut 'Alt+F4', this measurement prevents guest users close the software by clicking the close button using mouse or touch-screen. BUT it is unable to prevents guest users close the software by clicking the 'Alt+F4' or using task manager(Alt+Ctrl+Del) to close to software.
To solve this issue, For data query system that only require using ID number to search for data, we suggest the kiosk only equip mouse/touch-screen and barcode scanner. For data entry system or data query system require input characters, we suggest the kiosk should only equip industrial kiosk keyboard, which normally doesn't have the control keys(alt, ctrl, del, F1-F12 etc) and mouse/touch-screen. And make sure the kiosk itself haven't expose any USB port and PS/2 port to public.
Although the above measurements is very strong, but for kiosk with internet connection and running in a public environment we still suggest third-party kiosk software should be installed for greater security.

6. Select 'User Roles Management', create a administrator user for management purpose and a user for guest. the guest user should only have very limited rights. Here are two examples of how guest users should be configured:

For data query system that only allow guests to access records seeker and without the rights of editing, deleting and printing:
* Only following selections remain checked, others unchecked:
Preview Records
Execute Scripts
Records Seeker

For data entry system that only allow guests to access card issuing center and with the rights of adding records but without the rights of previewing , editing, deleting and printing:
* Only following selections remain checked, others unchecked:
Add New Records
Card Issuing Center
